When people ask me, “What’s this new church you’re going to all about?” I find it a little hard to describe River of Joy because we aren’t focused on so many of the things/metrics that people use to evaluate churches today.  I get questions like . . .

Where are you located?  . . .   well, we don’t have a building.  It’s not something that we really worry about.

What programs do you offer?  . . .    well, we’re not program focused either.  Each one of our members has their own passion for involvement in the community and the world.  We rally around each other’s involvement.  At times our role is as a leader for our own causes but most times we are a follower to support those in our community.  Remember those mission trips you used to go on as a youth?  Or maybe you’ve started turning part of your vacations into mission trips.  Well, we’re trying to make that a way of everyday life at River of Joy.

How many members do you have? . . .   kind of hard to count, we’re not about membership, but rather impact. River of Joy is a community that doesn’t have hard boundaries, but rather, soft edges allowing a wide diversity of beliefs. At its heart there is a common desire to be actively engaged in our community and reach out to those that we’ve encountered as we engage the world.
